THE ARRIVAL OF READY TO WEAR

From inception, Maison Bent has been solely a made-to-order brand where each product has been crafted by hand according to demand. As we have grown, we have found opportunity to finally work with a manufacturer to create our very first batch of Ready-To-Wear items.

I have decided to create my first RTW items inspired by Jamaica’s infamous boys khaki school uniform. I have actually been wanting to work with khaki for a while and as Jamaica will be celebrating 60 years of independence this year, I felt this is the perfect time to pay homage to home. The uniform is used by every public school on the island which creates a powerful unison and reminder that we are “out of many, one people”. I have named this set after my late Great Grandfather Elkanah “Foukah” Burton. He was the pinnacle of the family which I find to be the perfect metaphor for the beginning of an exciting and new chapter for Maison Bent.

We pride ourselves in producing an extremely versatile set that can be dressed up or down during the day and even worn as pyjamas at night. Being made from 100% cotton, you are guaranteed to feel cool and breezy regardless of the occasion. The fit is slightly oversized for maximum comfort and layering capability and beautifully finished with discreetly embroidered Maison Bent logos on both the shirt pocket and shorts leg. The internal craftsmanship is just as impressive with immaculate french seaming throughout. The final signature detail is the asymmetrical sleeve cuff for a more casual and modern look.
