Autumn/Winter 2021
Maison Bent continues to celebrate its Caribbean heritage for AW21 by bringing forth Lockdown conversations between Bent and her Grandfather about life during 1960’s Black Britain. Inspired by the working class fashions of Generation Windrush, Bent takes a deeper dive into that era, entwining pop-art with traditional work-wear worn by Caribbean migrants in the UK. A synergy of hard, manual labour, the fight for racial equality and the thriving music scene which eventually birthed the infamous Notting Hill Carnival to celebrate Caribbean culture and racial unity.
Traditional wool and silk blend fabrics are locally sourced from British mills and hand-made in the Maison Bent
Wimbledon atelier and adorned with recycled metal embellishments.
