2023 marks the 20th anniversary edition of Frieze London and the 11th edition of Frieze Masters. The fairs run concurrently from 11th – 15th October 2023, in the iconic Regent’s Park, bringing together leading galleries from 46 countries. Extensive on-site and citywide programming will run alongside the fairs, in a celebration of London’s wider cultural community. The annual art fair held in the iconic Regent’s Park, once again brought together an exquisite array of contemporary art from around the world. As we delve into our personal highlights of Frieze London 2023, we'll explore the exceptional works that celebrate diversity, inclusivity, and the creativity of melanated women voices in the art world.

One of the most refreshing aspects of Frieze London 2023 was its dynamic mix of media, styles, and influences, reflecting the rich tapestry of contemporary art. Visitors were treated to an inclusive experience that offered a window into the artistic expressions of artists from different racial, gender, and cultural backgrounds.

One of the standout artists was Kara Walker, whose monumental and thought-provoking installations exploring themes of race, gender, and history left an indelible impression on visitors. Her work serves as a testament to the power of art to challenge and question societal norms.

An exciting discovery was the work of Njideka Akunyili Crosby, a Nigerian-American artist renowned for her intricate and layered collages. Her art is a beautiful fusion of her cultural heritage and personal experiences, exploring themes of identity, immigration, and family.

The Goodman gallery showcased work by Photographer and activist Carrie Mae Weems. Her striking pieces addresses issues of racial injustice and social inequality. Her lens captures powerful moments and conveys the urgency of addressing these issues.
